Five Dead in Arizona as Small Plane Crashes Into Vehicle Near Mesa Airport

A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon near Falcon Field in Mesa, Arizona, when a small passenger plane crashed into a vehicle during an attempted takeoff, resulting in five fatalities, authorities confirmed.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the aircraft, a Honda jet, was attempting to take off around 4:40 p.m. when it veered off course, ripping through the airport's perimeter fence before crashing into a nearby vehicle. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that five people were on board the plane at the time of the crash.

While the authorities have not disclosed the number of individuals in the vehicle, it is known that five people were found dead at the scene. Detective Richard Encinas of the Mesa Police Department reported the fatalities, though it is still unclear if all those who died were passengers on the plane.

Eyewitness footage from ABC15 Arizona captured dramatic scenes of smoke rising from the wreckage, with firefighters working to contain the blaze. In the footage, at least one damaged vehicle can be seen amidst the wreck.

Both the FAA and NTSB have launched investigations into the cause of the crash.
