Ric Flair Opens Up About Stepson's Tragic Passing
Wrestling icon Ric Flair shared a heartfelt tribute on social media following the tragic loss of his stepson, Sebastian Kidder, who died by suicide over the weekend at just 24 years old. The news of Sebastian’s death was confirmed on Sunday, casting a shadow over the Flair family.
In an emotional message late Sunday night, the 75-year-old WWE Hall of Famer reflected on his relationship with Sebastian. “I’ve spent hours pondering what to say. Hearing about Sebastian’s passing, I can’t help but think of what Wendy and Paul must be feeling after losing a son of a similar age in 2013,” Flair wrote.
Flair expressed gratitude for the time he spent with Sebastian, reminiscing about the special moments they shared. “He was always there for his mother and the family—Sophia, Paris, and Summer—during my struggles. His selflessness was evident, especially during my health battles and after the loss of my son, Reid. Sebastian was exceptionally talented and will forever be remembered as a remarkable individual.”
Sebastian tragically died from a gunshot wound, a fact reported by TMZ, with his mother, Wendy Barlow, confirming the heartbreaking news. “I am devastated and shocked. This is an epidemic among young men, highlighting the critical issue of mental health,” she stated.
Sebastian was the son of Barlow from a previous relationship before she married Flair in 2018. The loss resonates deeply within the family, especially as Flair’s son Reid also passed away in 2013 from a drug overdose at the age of 25.
Flair had been a significant part of Sebastian’s life for over 15 years, even before he married Barlow. Recently, Flair announced that he and Barlow were separating. Earlier this year, Sebastian reflected on the impact Flair had on his life during an interview on Good Day Atlanta.
