Chris Brown Documentary Reveals Shocking Allegations of Assault
A new documentary, Chris Brown: A History of Violence, aired on Investigation Discovery, spotlighting serious accusations against the pop star, including claims of drugging and assaulting an anonymous woman, referred to as Jane Doe, on Sean "Diddy" Combs’ yacht in December 2020.
The documentary, which premiered on Sunday, delves into Brown's troubled history, documenting various allegations of violence spanning his two-decade career. It revisits the infamous incident in 2009 when Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting his then-girlfriend, Rihanna, with graphic details from that night recounted by retired LAPD sergeant Cheryl Dorsey.
In her account, Jane Doe describes attending a party on Diddy’s yacht in Miami, where she engaged in conversation with Brown about her aspirations as a dancer. After he offered her drinks, she soon felt overwhelmed and disoriented. "I remember lying back and thinking, 'Why can’t I get up?' Then he was on top of me, and despite saying ‘no,’ I felt him… next thing I knew he was inside me," she alleges.
Her attorney, Ariel Mitchell, who previously withdrew from a lawsuit in 2022 after controversial text messages surfaced, stands by Jane Doe’s claims. Mitchell asserts that the messages do not undermine the seriousness of her allegations.
The documentary doesn’t only focus on Jane Doe. It also revisits incidents involving other women, such as Karrueche Tran, who claimed Brown physically assaulted her and was granted a restraining order. Another alleged victim, Liziane Gutierrez, shared her experience of being punched by Brown at a party after taking a photo of him, claiming she was wrongfully removed from the event.
Brown has consistently denied wrongdoing regarding these allegations. His legal team described the claims made in the documentary as "malicious and false."
Following the documentary, The View co-host Sunny Hostin, a former federal prosecutor, led a discussion on domestic violence, emphasizing that it affects individuals from all walks of life. The documentary is part of Investigation Discovery’s No Excuse for Abuse campaign, aimed at raising awareness about the obstacles survivors face in seeking justice.
ID President Jason Sarlanis noted that the documentary highlights systemic issues in the legal system that hinder victims of domestic violence, calling attention to the short statute of limitations that often leaves survivors without recourse.
